Black Ops 2 - CoDCaster System

The new CoDCasting system introduced in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 was unveiled at the GamesCom event currently happening in Germany. The system is made to enhance the E-Sports experience as well as add just another element to a game that has made its focus to be “about the player”. The new system will aid in the current E-Sports arena as well as those who commentate Call of Duty videos on Youtube. This article will simply overview the information that is currently known about the CoDCaster system as well as its features.

The first big feature of the CoDCaster system is the omnipresent overview the watcher gets of the game. They get a view of every player in First Person, a view of the map with arrows for every player, a scoreboard to find out what kill streak every player is on and much more. This will allow for a spectator to be in complete viewing mode; they get to see everything that is going on over the course of the game. There will be no pixelated stone left unturned; the watcher will be able to see all the information about the current game making it the ultimate tool in broadcasting.

This feature also allows for broadcasting, recording and shoutcasting. This will allow a player to find a game that was either competitive or high scoring and shoutcast over it while manipulating the camera to make a top notch video. Aspiring commentators around the globe rejoice at the ability to make external device-less footage, and now, the gameplay will be more interactive than ever. You can focus on a certain player and then hot swap to someone with an 8 Kill Streak. From there, you can get an overview of the map and see where all the gun fights are happening, followed by a scoreboard of all the players in the game. All of this can be broadcasted right from the system with the push of a button.

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 wanted to be a new era to the E-Sports world and this tool is certainly a great start. It will open up brand new avenues for both commentators and those simply trying to get better at the game. With the addition of Leagues, Black Ops 2 is all about pushing the E-Sports scene and from the looks of it, they’ve already hit the ground running. With even more information that is yet to be released about this system, we are all looking forward to what the future holds with Black Ops 2.
